What a lovely meal! It was our 3 year anniversary so they gave us sparkling wine to start. We got the beet, bacon, & goat cheese salad and crispy brussel sprouts to start. The salad was a little light on bacon, but otherwise delightful. The brussels were some of the best I'd had in a while. For drinks I got something with vodka and blackberries that was moderately sweet and super refreshing. Then I got a spicy tequila drink and that thing had quite the kick, but I liked it. For entrees I got Homage to the Pig and my partner got the confit duck leg. The presentation of both was very appealing and they tasted at least as good as they looked. The pig cheeks were melt in the mouth tender and the grits were a perfect texture. I'm not a huge fan of duck or carrots but I still enjoyed the small amount of duck I had. I gave the food and service 5s but feel justified going with a 4 overall due to atmosphere. The outside of the place is surrounded by planters full of dead plants. It was an odd esthetic choice. Moral of the story, definitely eat here...just maybe do it inside.

Maximillian's: A Hidden Gem Our recent dining experience at Maximillian's was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were treated to a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Farm to Table menu was a delightful culinary journey. Our meal began with a perfectly prepared Focaccia served with a tangy black pepper balsamic vinaigrette. Next, we indulged in the Steakhouse Salad, a vibrant mix of fresh greens, crispy bacon, and a creamy blue cheese dressing. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the "Voodoo of the Day." This flavorful dish featured peppercorn-crusted NC Mountain Trout, a spicy Thai-inspired sauce, and succulent shrimp. The combination of complex layering of textures and flavors was simply outstanding. For dessert, we enjoyed a rich and decadent Coconut Cake with caramel drizzle taken home that was the perfect ending to our meal. Maximillian's is a true gem that has sadly been overlooked for far too long. The service was impeccable, and the ambiance was relaxed and inviting. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

The chef and the staff were amazing. So many laughs and good energy was shared. During restaurant week they shared a specific menu. I had not experienced a grilled Ceasars salad or sugar cookie cheesecake. I'm totally thankful for the experience. Good food. Great service. Amazing atmosphere.

Disappointing. For those that went to the “old” Maximilian’s, the “new” Maximillians is nothing like its predecessor unfortunately. The staff when we went recently seemed inexperienced and not sure what they were doing. The majority of them hung around the hostess stand talking and looking over and watching us throughout our meal. The menu also has changed. Missing are the wonderful pasta dishes with delicious sauces. Getting a off putting vibe we opted to only order items from the appetizer menu and cocktails. Went with a wine (safe choice) and the Spring Sangria. The sangria had a good flavor but it was chunky and not with large pieces of fresh fruit. Rather the fruit was “blended” but not not enough to make it smooth to drink and particles lingered in your mouth and teeth. On to food…. Ordered the focaccia of the day which was roasted garlic. Was served resembling corn bread with lemon peels on top. No garlic to be found or tasted. It was dry and unflavorful. Don’t order it, a waste of $7. One person ordered the apple and blue cheese salad. It would have been better perhaps if there would have been some blue cheese on it. There wasn’t. Had to ask for more which they did bring. Next was the grilled chaser salad. Hard to screw up, so it was ok. Croutons on the side were the size of softballs. Lastly, the cauliflower flat bread. Yikes. I would have been better off getting a frozen pizza from the grocery store…well, thinking back, thats what they actually might have done. It wasn’t a flat bread at all but a round premade crust. The pizza was over cooked and bland. It was void of the balsamic reduction drizzle. The bill came to about $90…way too much money for the service and food we received.
