Visiting for March madness and didn't have much available for vegetarians nearby. Also don't have a car so me and two friends walked 45 minutes to get here. They let us in near closing time and I'm forever thankful to them for that. I got a parmagranite juice which was absolutely splendid, I just came back from Ecuador which is a JUICE country and this compared to them. My friend got a Flower and Flame(I think) which is this gorgeous purple drink. The taste was amazing each sip a journey of flavors ending with a really good smokey flavor.
Now for the food, we started off with a cornbread which had the most immaculate topping and butter my whole group loved it. And oh my god the vegan chicken and waffles. Now this is probably one of the best meals I've had in my life. I know the staff had a giggle from our reactions and yes they were that good. We both had ratatouille style moments from our first bites. The breading was exquisite the taste even better than chicken. It made me forget what food was. I seriously cannot recommend it enough. Our other friend got the meatloaf which was also insanely good. I cannot believe how good this was. Thank you for such an amazing vegetarian meal, I'd been struggling to find stuff for the past 2 days here.
The staff was super sweet and kind. We came in super late and they were so caring for us. The staff was gave us so much water and was caringly concerned about our walk. When I walked to the bathroom I got a little peak into the kitchen and just knew I was in the right place. :)
Thank you for such an incredible meal and wonderful experience. So far this is the highlight of the trip and I cannot recommend enough.

First, absolutely LOVE this new location, much more lively and bright.
Two, the chef out to be met with a kiss because they are COOKING back there! The food is packed with different layers and flavors it’s almost criminal.
Three , anything that needs to be handled over food should be handled here at fiction kitchen. This is the best vegan spot you will find in the Raleigh area! Need to break up w your person - fiction kitchen. Need to propose? Fiction kitchen. Long day after work? Fiction kitchen. Business lunch? Fiction kitchen.
They did not disappoint in my meal tonight. I ordered cornbread , hush puppies (no regrets on the double corn prepared in different ways) , peanut noodle bowl and pumpkin cheesecake. I am STUFFED to the brim.
I love finding a restaurant that matches the price of food with the quantity and quality of the food. The best dinner purchase for sure.
10/10/10 scores the board, including Presentation , taste , flavor town , labeling my to go boxes. YES YES YES.
Unfortunately for me, I will 100% be back to try the rest of the menu. #BigBack2025 thanks fiction kitchen.
EDIT: a day later i went back for dinner. No regrets. Will do it again.

We had a delicious 3 course meal and fantastic service. Highly recommend. We tend to ask for recommendations from the staff, which we did tonight, and we were not disappointed. I had one of the zero proof cocktails and it was perfect.
Reservations recommended but it looked like you could walk in and sit at the bar.

First off the food was beyond amazing, highly recommend a group dinner of appetizers, cornbread, charcuterie, pimento cheese and house made pepperoni, all so good! Sadly we had a bit of a snafu with our service as we had none for about 30 minutes till I got up to go to the bar, however, they fixed it, were truly apologetic and comped an appetizer to make up for it. Cocktails were also amazing!

First time at the newer location, have been a customer in the past and always loved it. Been a few years and was excited to celebrate my birthday dinner here with my family. Food was still very good, no issue there. The service, however, was bizarre. Not to mention, I did include we were celebrating a birthday in the reservation and there was no mention from the server or wishing a happy birthday. Not that I’m expecting a free drink or anything, but acknowledgment would be nice. It’s possible the hostess did not inform the server, but again goes back to sub-par service all around. To start, our server (curly dark hair, mustache) immediately opens with did we see the special board? It was on the other side of the restaurant. And if we didn’t, we should get up from our table and go take a picture of it from across the restaurant. Why? Because he said it was “too many ingrediants to list, and he didn’t wanna waste our time but telling us himself?” But that he “thinks there’s a salad and soup on there” but couldn’t give us any information on this lol. So we went without knowing what the specials were. Next, my boyfriend’s father wanted to order an old fashioned and asked our server what the house bourbon was. He said “I don’t know, we have so many bourbons, *points to the bar* but to go ask the bartender if he wanted to know” like what? Aren’t you the server? Do you work here bro? Really strange asking us to do the work for him, considering a server is a liaison between kitchen and bar. We took it with a grain of salt and just tried to enjoy our dinner going forward. It was such a strange experience tho, doesn’t make me want to come back. My first experiences (2016-2018) we’re always great from what I remember tho. I recommend giving servers a better training on alcohol and food knowledge. Was not a good look.
